Miami Beach, Flordia
Very nice place, warm and sunny. Good dance music, seems like a friendly place. Very interesting that they have a time board with our time, Paris time and Second Life time. We landed in front of a beach store selling bathing suits, beach wear, etc. Nobody around, just our group.
I thought the place was a little too wide open and boring? Not many people there and I couldn't find a bar to get a Blue Moon anywhere. Next time I'll bring a keg and invite the rest of the class.
ReplyDeleteThis place just reminded me of summer. Not much going on but looked warm. I could have gone shopping there.
ReplyDeleteThe Second Life virtual society is different than that of the real world on many levels. There is no responsibility to do anything, no need to get up an go to work, or school, or eat or sleep. It is very imaginary, like a fantasy, where you can be anyone you want to be. You could turn into your alter-ego and play out a fantasy and no one would know the difference.
ReplyDeleteJeanne, what a great point about Second Life being a fantasy. When a group member suggested Miami Beach, everyone met there in moments. In real life, travel preparations would need to be made. Second, many people diet before swimsuit season. In Second Life, one's avatar comes slim and trim, no exercise or calorie restrictions needed. ( Was anyone else surprised by the avatar's physiques? I believe we can change them, but I was surprised all options were shaped the same. )
ReplyDeleteThe Way of the World never met within the chat room on blackboard vista. I prefer group activities in chat rooms as opposed to email because of immediate response. I believe the large list of directions needed to move the avatar was a distraction. It was hard to get all the group members together to meet. We lost Silvio going to the second location. Later, I was unable to grant entry into Miami Beach and was subsequently sent to the other Miami, Florida room. Everyone was able to meet up and travel with one another, but the time it took was definitely longer than anticipated. Second Life may be a great place to meet others and live a fantasy life, but it does not easily lend itself to scholastic activities.
